Deluxe Exerciser

1965

Schwinn brought bicycle technology indoors introducing
the “Deluxe Exerciser” exercise bikes.

Arthur Jones, Nautilus founder

1970

Nautilus was founded by Arthur Jones.

1976

Arthur Jones completed the Nautilus factory offices and
studios in Lake Helen, FL.

1979

Unisen Inc. / Star Trac was founded by Jim Doody, who
designed electronic components for treadmills.

1980s

StairMaster launches with the StairMaster 5000

1983

StairMaster was founded by Larry Potts and Jim Walker
and George Schupp and launched by Tri-Tech, Inc in
Tulsa, OK with the StairMaster 5000.

1984

The StairMaster 6000 launched.

1986

The StairMaster 4000PT was introduced at IHRSA. It was
the first machine which had two steps with motions
independent of each other.

1986

The Gravitron 8000 was launched.

1987

Unisen Inc. launched the Star Trac 2000, the first DC-
powered commercial treadmill exclusively for health
clubs.

1988

The StairMaster Gauntlet was released (later became
known as the StepMIll, a rotating staircase machine).

The StepMill 7000PT was launched.

1993

Land America Health and Fitness was established.

Steve Nichols patented Jacobs Ladder.

Star Trac V-Bike Launches

1997

The Gravitron 2000AT was launched.

Star Trac TR3500 Treadmill launched with the first
integrated water bottle holder, personal stereo, towel
and reading material holder.

Star Trac entered the Group Cycle Market with the launch of V-
Bike.

The StairMaster 4400PT & CL was launched.

The StairMaster 4600PT & CL was launched.

2000s

2001

Schwinn launched the Indoor Cycling Program.

2002

Star Trac launched the Pro Series treadmills with new
user-focused features such as personal fans and weight
scales.

Schwinn launched the IC bike line, including the Evolution IC
Pro and IC Elite with an adjustable smart release.

Star Trac teams with Spinning to launch an all-new line of
Spinner bikes.

2003

Star Trac launched the Johnny G first-generation Spinner Pro.

Star Trac launched Pro Series upright and recumbent
bikes with user-friendly features such as
personal fans, a reading station, and armrests.

Land America Health and Fitness built a 1 million square
foot manufacturing space.

Throwdown Industries was founded.

2004

Jacobs Ladder was founded by Bob Palka with Steve Nichols.

Star Trac acquired Flex Fitness and its extensive
strength line.

2005

Star Trac launched new Total Body Trainers and

Pro Steppers, completing the cardio line.

2006

Star Trac launched Impact, Instinct, and HumanSport strength lines.

2007

Star Trac launched the new E Series cardio line, complete
with entertainment that offered integrated iPod
connectivity.

Nautilus Lock N Load is introduced

2008

‘World of Exercise’ – Wexer for short – was founded by Rasmus
Ingersley.

Nautilus and Star Trac revolutionized weight selection
technology with the introduction of the ONE Dial and
Lock N Load pinless weight stacks.

Star Trac launched new embedded touchscreen
technology providing intuitive, motivational, and
rewarding interface.

The StairMaster StairClimber 916 (SC916) & StepMill 916 (SM916)
were released.

Schwinn launched the line of Authentic Cycling (AC) Series bike
featuring magnetic resistance.

2009

Michael Bruno bought StairMaster and licensed Schwinn
Indoor Cycling.

Michael Bruno bought Stairmaster from Nautilus Inc.

Jillian Michaels requested Jacobs Ladder machines as part
of the training program on Biggest Loser resulting in six-year
partnership.

2010s

2010

Jacobs Ladder 2 was launched.

Michael Bruno bought Star Trac.

Star Trac introduced the Star Trac Coach, a personalized
treadmill workout led by a professional coach.

2011

Wexer Virtual B2B model was founded.

TwistLock Dumbells was launched.

Core Health & Fitness was created and consolidated Star
Trac and StairMaster.

The StairMaster StairClimber 5 (SC5) was released.

StepMill 5 (SM5) was launched.

2012

StepMill 3 (SM3) was launched.

Star Trac licensed BoxMaster

2013

JL Stairway was launched.

Zumba becomes the first Wexer content provider.

Star Trac launched the TreadClimber, offering the
benefits of a treadmill, the low impact of an elliptical, and
the knee and hip flexion of a stepper.

Schwinn unveiled its first belt bike to the market, the AC
Performance Plus with Carbon Blue.

Star Trac licensed BoxMaster from inventor Rai Fazio.

2014

Core Health & Fitness purchased manufacturing facilities
in Independence, VA, and licensed Nautilus strength
products.

StairMaster launched the AirFit Bike – commercial quality,
ideal for rehab, fitness, and performance

StairMaster 8G was launched.

HiitMill X

2015

Redesigned HumanSport moved under the Nautilus brand.

Nautilus Inspiration AB was developed, the first
continuation of Star Trac and Nautilus strength.

2016

Star Trac launched the Studio Series Group Cycles.

StairMaster launched the AirFit UB, a commercial-quality,
fan-resistant, upper-body ergometer.

Star Trac unveiled all-new cardio technology, their best
platform yet, called OpenHub.

HiitMill X was launched.

Wexer acquired Club Virtual and moved to London as
market leader.

Wexer acquired Connected Fitness Labs (CFL), a digital
platform.
